PCA With Skimmed Milk
Plate Count Agar with skimmed milk is used in food and dairy bacteriology to enumerate aerobic bacteria in milk powders and dairy products.
It is also used in the enumeration of psychrotrophic microorganisms.
The typical composition conforms to that defined in the standards NF ISO 1 7 4 1 0 , NF EN ISO 4833-1 & 2 and XP V08-034, ISO 8553 and ISO 14461-1 & 2 for the control of dairy products.
Available in the following formats:
Dehydrated medium: 500 g bottle
Also available as ready-to-melt medium: 10 vials of 200 ml (BM08608).
In compliance with regulatory requirements, a USDA permit (VS 16-3) is mandatory for shipments from Canada to the USA due to the inclusion of peptone, an animal byproduct.
The nutrients supplied by skimmed milk and Tryptone, vitamins from yeast extract and glucose used as energy source favor the growth of most bacteria.
The skimmed milk allows responds to the recommendations of the standards in terms of dairy bacteriology.
