Sabouraud Dextrose Agar with Lecithin and Tween 80
Agar medium used for the detection and enumeration of microorganisms, specifically Fungi, on the surface of sanitary containers, equipment and surfaces.
In compliance with regulatory requirements, a USDA permit (VS 16-3) is mandatory for shipments from Canada to the USA due to the inclusion of peptone, an animal byproduct.
Sabouraud Dextrose Agar with Lecithin and Tween 80 is used for the isolation and enumeration of yeasts and molds on the surface of sanitary containers, equipment and other surfaces.
Enzymatic Digests of Casein and Animal Tissue provide nitrogenous compounds. Dextrose is the fermentable carbohydrate and inhibits bacterial growth due to its high concentration.
Lecithin neutralizes quaternary ammonium compounds, while Ethanol and Tween 80 neutralize phenols, hexachlorophene, and formalin. Agar is the gelifying agent.
